Abstract

This research is conducted to test three different supercapacitor sample from the same factory which are sold the market, to find out the leading factor of the energy storage in supercapacitor. The test was run using three sample of supercapacitor with 100V voltage, and have different capacity value which are: 1st sample (4.700 μF), 2nd sample (6.800 μF), and 3rd sample (15.000 μF). The following research method were used on this experiments: Cyclic Voltammetry, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The data processing and analytical data calculation produced the following capacitance value: 1st sample (0,0011 F/g), 2nd sample (0,0019 F/g), and 3rd sample (0,0013 F/g). The result was an inconsistent, in which the capacitance should be greater based on the capacitor data used as a sample. The inconsistency of the result could be explained using Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The types of three supercapacitor samples which are sold on the market from the same factory, are characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy, including the pseudocapacitor because it has the white, crystallized particles, and the advantage of the energy storage from the supercapacitor are caused by two carbon active layered substance without any chemical reaction. Keywords: (supercapacitor, capacitance, energy storage)
