Abstract

Penelitian ini menggambarkan budaya perempuan dan masyarakat Bali melalui novel terjemahan Rape of Sukreni karya Pandji Tisna. Novel ini berkisah tentang tiga perempuan Bali yaitu Ni Luh Sukreni, Men Negara dan Ni Negari yang memiliki saling kecemburuan primadona desa. Novel ini juga berkisah tentang tokoh masyarakat budaya Bali yaitu I Gusti Made Tusan (Kepala Polisi), Ida Gede Swamba (pemilik kebun kelapa), I Gustam (putra dari Sukreni), I Nyoman Raka (ayah Sukreni), dan I Mujana (Ajudan Kepala Polisi) yang memiliki persamaan kepercayaan dan perbedaan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan pemanfaatan konsep sosiologi sastra dan representasi perempuan untuk menganalisis gambaran 3 (tiga) perempuan dan masyarakat Bali dalam novel terjemahan Rape of Sukreni. Data penelitian yang diambil berupa narasi dan dialog yang diambil penulis berupa representasi, kepercayaan, dan budaya. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah penulis menemukan bahwa perempuan memiliki representasi dan masyarakat Bali juga memiliki budaya kepercayaan tersendiri. Ada 3 aspek dari perempuan dan masyarakat Bali yaitu pertama, menunjukkan budaya adat masyarakat Bali melalui sistem kasta/sistem lapisan sosial teratas-terendah, ngaben/kremasi mewah-sederhana, dan hak waris perbedaan kepercayaan. Kedua, representasi perempuan Bali sebagai objek (Ni Negari dan Ni Luh Sukreni), inferior (Ni Luh Sukreni, Men Negara dan Ni Negari) dan kuat (Ni Luh Sukreni). Ketiga, mengenai kepercayaan masyarakat Bali melalui Widhi Sradha (kepada Tuhan) dan Karmaphala Sradha (hukum karma). Kata kunci: Sosiologi sastra, Budaya masyarakat Bali, Representasi perempuan Bali, Kepercayaan masyarakat Bali. / This study describes the culture of women and Balinese society through the translated novel Rape of Sukreni by Pandji Tisna. The novel tells the story of three Balinese women, Ni Luh Sukreni, Men Negara and Ni Negari, who have mutual jealousy of the village prima donna. The novel also tells the story of Balinese cultural community figures namely I Gusti Made Tusan (Chief of Police), Ida Gede Swamba (coconut plantation owner), I Gustam (son of Sukreni), I Nyoman Raka (Sukreni's father), and I Mujana (Police Chief's aide) who have similar beliefs and social differences. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method by utilizing the concepts of literary sociology and women's representation to analyze the images of three women and Balinese society in the translated novel Rape of Sukreni. The research data taken in the form of narration and dialog taken by the author in the form of representation, belief, and culture. The result of this research is that the author found that women have representation and Balinese people also have their own culture of belief. There are 3 aspects of women and Balinese society, namely first, showing the traditional culture of Balinese society through the caste system / top-low social layer system, luxurious-simple ngaben /cremation, and inheritance rights of different beliefs. Second, the representation of Balinese women as objects (Ni Negari and Ni Luh Sukreni), inferior (Ni LuhSukreni, Men Negara and Ni Negari) and strong (Ni Luh Sukreni). Third,regarding the Balinese beliefs through Widhi Sradha (to God) and KarmaphalaSradha (the law of karma).
