Abstract

Di negara berkembang seperti di Indonesia, penyakit infeksi masih menjadi salah satu masalah kesehatan paling penting. Saat ini, antibiotik biasanya sering digunakan dalam pengobatan penyakit infeksi. Tetapi pada kenyataannya penyakit infeksi masih terus muncul. Ini disebabkan karena ketidakpatuhan dalam penggunaan antibiotik sehingga menyebabkan resistensi. Akibatnya,membuka peluang untuk penggunaan tanaman obat herbal dalam mengatasi infeksi yaitu dengan memanfaatkan tanaman yang dapat tumbuh di daearah tropis seperti di Indonesia. Di wilayah Kalimantan Tengah, terdapat tanaman Kayu Bajakah (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). Seluruh bagian tanaman ini dapat dimanfaatkan mulai dari batang hingga akarnya. Tanaman ini banyak digunakan masyarakat untuk pengobatan tradisional. Sehingga diduga tanaman ini memiliki aktivitas antibakteri penyebab infeksi saluran kemih. P.aeruginosa termasuk ke dalam penyebab infeksi saluran kemih. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan dan membuktikan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak metanol kayu bajakah (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk) dan efeknya yang menghambat perkembangan bakteri P.aeruginosa. Menurut hasil penelitian, ekstrak metanol kayu bajakah memiliki sifat antimikroba dan bakteriostatik. Kata Kunci : Uji antibakteri, Kayu Bajakah, P.aeruginosa. / In developing countries like Indonesia, infectious diseases are still one of the most important health problems. Currently, antibiotics are often used in the treatment of infectious diseases. But in reality, infectious diseases still continue to emerge. This is caused by non-compliance in the use of antibiotics, causing resistance. As a result, this opens up opportunities for the use of herbal medicinal plants to treat infections, namely by using plants that can grow in tropical areas such as Indonesia. In the Central Kalimantan region, there is the Bajakah wood plant (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). All parts of this plant can be used from the stem to the roots. This plant is widely used by people for traditional medicine. So it is suspected that this plant has antibacterial activity that causes urinary tract infections. P.aeruginosa is one of the causes of urinary tract infections. The aim of this research was to discover and prove the antibacterial activity of methanol extract of Bajakah wood (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk) and its effect in inhibiting the development of P.aeruginosa bacteria. According to research results, Bajakah wood methanol extract has antimicrobial and bacteriostatic properties. Keywords: Antibacterial test, Wood Bajakah, P.aeruginosa
