Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam menyampaikan atau memasukkan ide-ide mereka melalui gambar, grafik, atau diagram yang disajikan di SMPN 80 Jakarta; (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa menerjemah konsep matematika ke dalam gambar, grafik dan diagram di SMPN 80 Jakarta; (3) mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa menggunakan bahasa atau simbol matematika untuk menggambarkan peristiwa sehari-hari; (4) mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif yang dilakukan di SMPN 80 Jakarta sebagai sekolah tempat penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes, dan wawancara sebagai pendukung. Adapun indikator yang digunakan untuk melihat sejauh apa kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa, yaitu (1) written text, (2) drawing, (3) mathematical expression. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik SMPN 80 Jakarta memiliki tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam kategori sedang, siswa menulis jawaban yang kurang lengkap tanpa adanya langkah-langkah pengerjaan; (1) jawaban dalam kategori sedang sebanyak 59% peserta didik, kategori tinggi 26% peserta didik dan kategori rendah 15% peserta didik, (2) jawaban dalam kategori sedang sebanyak 80% peserta didik, kategori tinggi 9% siswa dan kategori rendah sebanyak 11% peserta didik, (3) jawaban dalam kategori sedang 77% peserta didik, kategori tinggi 7% peserta didik, dan kategori rendah 16 peserta didik, (4) Setelah dianalisis secara keseluruhan, kemampuan komunikasi matematis berada pada kategori sedang yaitu sebanyak 74% peserta didik, kategori tinggi 16% peserta didik, kategori rendah 10% peserta didik. Kata kunci: Kemampuan komunikasi matematis, materi statistika. / This study aims to: (1) describe students' ability to convey or incorporate their ideas through pictures, graphs, or diagrams presented at SMPN 80 Jakarta; (2) describe students' ability to translate mathematical concepts into pictures, graphs and diagrams at SMPN 80 Jakarta; (3) describe students' ability to use language or mathematical symbols to describe everyday events; (4) describe students' overall mathematical communication skills. This study used quantitative descriptive method conducted at SMPN 80 Jakarta as the school where the research was conducted. Data collection techniques are carried out with tests, and interviews as support. The indicators used to see the extent of students' mathematical communication skills are (1) written text, (2) drawing, (3) mathematical expression. The results of this study showed that SMPN 80 Jakarta students had a moderate level of mathematical communication skills, students wrote incomplete answers without any work steps; (1) answers in the medium category as many as 59% of students, high category 26% of students and low category 15% of students, (2) answers in the medium category as many as 80% of students, high category of 9% students and low category as many as 11% of students, (3) answers in the medium category of 77% of students, high category of 7% of students, and low category of 16 students, (4) After being analyzed as a whole, mathematical communication skills are in the medium category, namely 74% of students, high category 16% of students, low category 10% of students.
