Abstract

Penyakit yang timbul akibat infeksi semakin meningkat bahkan dapat terjadi resistensi bakteri terhadap antibiotik sehingga menimbulkan perhatian serius dalam pengobatan. Berbagai upaya yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat untuk memelihara kesehatan dan kekebalan tubuh, hal ini salah satunya adalah dalam memanfaatkan tanaman obat. Di Indonesia khususnya di Kasongan, Kalimantan Tengah salah satu tanaman obat yang dipercaya yaitu Bajakah Tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.). Penelitian terdahulu mengungkapkan bahwa bajakah tampala memiliki beberapa kandungan senyawa aktif seperti flavonoid, alkaloid, safonin, fenol, dan tannin yang bersifat antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menguji, menganalisis, dan mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak metanol batang bajakah tampala sebagai antibakteri untuk menghambat pertumbuhan Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) dan penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan metode Kirby-Bauer untuk uji antibakteri. Hasil menunjukkan ekstrak metanol batang bajakah tampala mempunyai daya hambat sebagai antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) pada konsentrasi 50 mg/ml, dan 100 mg/ml dengan rerata diameter zona inhibisi 25,65 mm; dan 26,4 mm. Ekstrak metanol batang bajakah tampala memiliki daya hambat dan efektivitas sebagai antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) dan dapat dikategorikan sedang sampai sangat kuat. Kata kunci: antibakteri, Spatholobus littoralis Hassk., MRSA. / Diseases caused by infections are increasing, even bacteria can develop resistance to antibiotics that cause serious problems in treatment. The community has made various efforts to maintain health and immunity, one of them is the use of medicinal plants. In Indonesia, especially in Kasongan, Central of Kalimantan, one of the trusted medicinal plants is Bajakah Tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk). Previous research showed that Bajakah Tampala contains several active compounds such as flavonoid, alkaloid, saponin, fenol and tanin, which are antibacterial. The purpose of this study was to test, analyse and determine the effect of methanol extract of Bajakah Tampala stems as an antibacterial to inhibit the growth of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and this research was experimental using the Kirby-Bauer method for antibacterial testing. The results showed that the methanol extract of Bajakah Tampala stem had antibacterial inhibition against the growth of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at concentrations of 50 mg/ml and 100 mg/ml with an average inhibition zone diameter of 25.65 mm; and 26.4 mm. The methanol extract of Bajakah Tampala stem has inhibition and effectiveness as an antibacterial against the growth of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and can be classified as moderate to very strong.
