Abstract

Keberhasilan Korean wave di Kawasan Asia membuat pemerintah Korea Selatan semakin memperluas wilayah jangkauannya hingga ke Kawasan Timur Tengah. Korean wave merupakan alat diplomasi budaya yang digunakan oleh Korea Selatan dalam menyebarkan budaya Korea Selatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran pemerintah Korea Selatan sehingga diplomasi budaya Korea Selatan melalui Korean wave dapat masuk ke Kawasan Timur Tengah. Penelitian ini hanya meneliti tiga negara Kawasan Timur Tengah, yaitu Turki, Mesir, dan UEA. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep soft power, diplomasi budaya, dan budaya populer. Metode yang digunakan ialah metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan jenis data deskriptif analisis. Penelitian akhir mendeskripsikan bahwa Pemerintah Korea Selatan telah berhasil menyebarkan diplomasi budaya ke Kawasan Timur Tengah, hal ini dilihat dari pendirian Pusat Kebudayaan Korea Selatan (KCC) di Turki, Mesir, dan UEA, pembentukan Korea-Arab Society (KAS), serta banyaknya komunitas penggemar budaya Korea Selatan di Kawasan Timur Tengah. Kata kunci: Korea Selatan, Korean Wave, Timur Tengah, Diplomasi Budaya. / The success of the Korean wave in the Asian Region has made the South Korean government increasingly expand its reach to the Middle East Region. The Korean wave is a cultural diplomacy tool used by South Korea in spreading South Korean culture. This study aims to determine the role of the South Korean government so that South Korean cultural diplomacy through the Korean wave can enter the Middle East Region. This study only examines three Middle Eastern countries, namely Turkey, Egypt, and the UAE. This study uses the concepts of soft power, cultural diplomacy, and popular culture. The method used is a qualitative research method, with the type of descriptive data analysis. The final research describes that the South Korean government has succeeded in spreading cultural diplomacy to the Middle East Region, this can be seen from the establishment of the South Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Turkey, Egypt, and the UAE, the formation of the Korea- Arab Society (KAS), and the large number of fan communities.
