Abstract

Kesulitan siswa/i dalam meningkatkan kecakapan berbahasa inggris merupakan salah satu alasan penulis mengangkat kasus ini. Hal ini disebabkan oleh ketakutan dan kekhawatiran siswa dalam berbicara dalam bahasa inggris sehingga kemampuan berbicara berbahasa inggris mereka pun terbatas dan sulit untuk berkembang. Untuk mengatasi kekurangan tersebut, penulis menggunakan lagu- lagu bahasa inggris sebagai salah satu metode pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan oleh guru. Salah satu contoh dari kasus ini adalah keraguan siswa dan ketakutannya dalam menggunakan bahasa inggris dalam kehidupannya sehari-hari termasuk di sekolah. Hal ini disebabkan karena takut salah dalam berbicara berbahasa inggris dan kurangnya motivasi untuk mempelajari bagaimana mengucapkan kata yang baik dan benar, serta kurangnya kosa kata bahasa inggris yang dimiliki oleh siswa/i. Untuk meneliti kasus ini, penulis melakukan penelitian ini dengan bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa/i dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara (bahasa inggris). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Fransiskus II Jakarta Timur yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 Juni 2022. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Survei yang didistribusikan dengan cara membagikan kuesioner yang terdiri atas 16 pertanyaan melalui WhatsApp group untuk mempermudah siswa mengakses link yang diberikan. Kuesioner tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Selain itu, sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil secara acak dan kelas yang terpilih adalah seluruh kelas XI yang terdiri dari empat kelas. Jumlah dari keseluruhan sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 siswa. Pertanyaan-pertanyaan tersebut dikelompokkan berdasarkan tiga indikator, yakni keefektifan lagu Bahasa inggris, hasil pembelajaran (keterampilan berbicara) dengan penggunaan lagu Bahasa inggris, dan pengalaman siswa-siswi terkait dengan metode. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas siswa-siswi yakni 63.90% dari jumlah keseluruhan sampel menyatakan setuju terkait dengan lagu-lagu bahasa inggris dalam peningkatan keterampilan berbicara. 33.43% siswa menyatakan sangat setuju, 2.40% menyatakan tidak setuju, dan 1.13% sangat tidak setuju dengan pernyataan tersebut. / The challenges students have when tried to hone their English-speaking abilities serve as the inspiration for this study. This is brought on by students' anxiety and dread of speaking English, which limits and makes it challenging for them to improve their English-speaking abilities. This is caused by the fear and concern of students about speaking English in English, so that their English-speaking skills are limited and difficult to develop. To overcome the shortcomings and difficulties of high school students in improving their English-speaking skills, the author uses English songs as a learning method that can improve their mastery of improving speaking skills. One example of this case is students' doubts and fears about using English in their daily lives, including at school. The causes of his fear are that he is afraid of pronouncing words in English wrong; a lack of motivation to learn how to pronounce these words; and the lack of English vocabulary possessed by students. The author conducted this study to investigate this case with the goal of learning students' perceptions of improving their speaking skills (English). So that the authors and even teachers know and examine students' perspectives in the use of English songs, this can be a method that can be done to improve students' speaking skills. This research was conducted at SMA Fransiskus II East Jakarta, which was held on June 17, 2022. The method used in this study was a survey, which was distributed by distributing questionnaires through WhatsApp groups to make it easier for students to access the links provided. The questionnaire was analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. In addition, the sample in this study was taken randomly, and the selected class was the entire XI class, which consisted of four classes. The total sample in this study was 30 students. Meanwhile, the data was collected by means of a questionnaire consisting of 16 questions. The questions are grouped based on three indicators, namely: the effectiveness of English songs; learning outcomes (speaking skills) with the use of English songs; and students' experiences related to the method. The results of this study indicate that the majority of students, i.e., 63.90% of the total sample, agree with regard to English songs in improving speaking skills. 33.43% of students strongly agree, 2.40% disagree, and 1.13% strongly disagree with the statement.
