Abstract

Patricia, Regina. 2023. Analisis Nilai Budaya dalam Film “The Farewell”: Karya Lulu Wang. Film “The Farewell” Karya Lulu Wang merupakan salah satu bagian dari karya yang memiliki arti mendalam dalam budaya Tionghoa. Masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah nilai budaya Tionghoa apa saja yang terdapat dalam film “The Farewell”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan nilai budaya Tionghoa yang terdapat dalam film “The Farewell”. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode deskritif kualitatif untuk mendapatkan gambaran nilai budaya Tionghoa dalam film “The Farewell” karya Lulu Wang. Penelitian menggunakan teori semiotika Charles Sandres Pierce yakni tanda, objek, dan interpretan. Cara menganalisisnya dengan menonton filmnya berulang-ulang, membuat sinopsis, dan mencari adegan yang memunculkan budaya Tionghoa. Hasil analisis membuktikan bahwa film “The Farewell” karya Lulu Wang menunjukkan beberapa nilai budaya Tionghoa. Nilai budaya tersebut adalah (1) budaya Tionghoa laku bakti-孝(xiào), (2) budaya makan bersama, (3) budaya Tionghoa saat berziarah, (4) budaya Tionghoa memberi angpao. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami nilai budaya dalam sebuah film dengan metode analisis Charles Sanders Pierce. Kata kunci: Analisis, Nilai Budaya, Film. / Patricia, Regina. 2023. Analysis of Cultural Values in the Film “The Farewell”: The work of Lulu Wang. The film “The Farewell” by Lulu Wang is a part of the work that has a deep meaning in Chinese culture. The problem discussed in this study is what Chinese cultural values are contained in the film “The Farewell”. The purpose of this study is to explain the Chinese cultural values contained in the film "The Farewell". This research method is a qualitative descriptive method to get an overview of Chinese cultural values in the film “The Farewell” by Lulu Wang. The research uses Charles Sandres Pierce's semiotic theory namely sign, object, and interpretant. The way to analyze it is by watching the film over and over again, making a synopsis, and looking for scenes that evoke Chinese culture. The results of the analysis prove that the film "The Farewell" by Lulu Wang shows several Chinese cultural values. These cultural values are (1) the Chinese culture of filial piety-孝(xiào), (2) the culture of eating together, (3) the Chinese culture during pilgrimages, (4) the Chinese culture of giving angpao. This study aims to understand cultural values in a film using Charles Sanders Pierce's analytical method.
