Abstract

Escherichia coli merupakan salah satu jenis kuman yang bersifat patogen karena mampu menghasilkan toksin yang menyebabkan diare bila mencemari makanan atau minuman. Penyebab terkontaminasinya makanan dan minuman bisa melalui air, peralatan yang digunakan dan manusia yang terinfeksi E.coli. Mengingat pentingnya kualitas atau keamanan minuman yang dikonsumsi, maka perlu dilakukan penelitian secara mikrobiologi untuk mengetahui kualitas minuman salah satunya es jeruk. Peneitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pencemaran kuman E.coli pada minuman es jeruk yang di jual oleh pedagang kaki lima di Kelurah Cawang, Jakarta Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan mengambil 30 sampel dari pedagang es jeruk yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan dari 30 sampel ditemukan 10 sampel tercemar kuman E.coli (33,3% ). Kata kunci : es jeruk, Escherichia coli./ Escherichia coli is one of the microbes with pathogen nature due to its ability to produce a toxin that contaminates foods, which causes diarrhea. The reason of contamination can be water, the eating equipment, or the person has been infected by E.Coli. The importance of beverage for consumption has made a need for microbiology research to know the quality of beverages. One of the beverages is orange juice. The purpose of this research is to find out the contamination of E.coli in orange juice that being sold by street vendors in Kelurahan Cawang, East Jakarta. The methodology of this research is an experiment with 30 samples of orange juice street vendors. The result of this research shows that 10 out of 30 samples are contaminated with E.coli microbe.
