Abstract

Natural resources, especially oil, will be the main commodity that will always be contested by many countries. All countries in the world are vying to become a hegemon country in order to become a ruler so that they are able to control other countries. This article is prepared using qualitative research and quantitative research where news and journals are the main sources. The seizure of the South China Sea justifies one of the country's characteristics, namely aggressiveness. This article will discuss the competition between the United States and China to become a hegemonic country through the South China Sea.. With the depletion of oil reserves in the Middle East, the South China Sea will rank number one in being a contested area.
