Abstract

This study examines how corporate ownership and dividend policy, as part of corporate governance practice, have affected the quality of a company's risk disclosure practices, as well as how the quality of a company's risk disclosure practices could affect its stock market performance in Indonesia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Disclosure of risks is essential to eliminate information asymmetry between stakeholders. Moreover, under the current crisis circumstances, COVID-19 has added to stock market uncertainty. For the period of 2018-2021, the risk disclosure quality of 30 non-financial companies listed on the Indonesian Exchange was evaluated using a multidimensional methodology. The gathered information is analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS). Our research as a whole promotes advocating for changes to and stricter regulation of risk disclosure practices in Indonesia in order to increase market efficiency. The study indicates that ownership structure and risk disclosure have a substantial relationship. Nonetheless, we discovered that risk disclosure had no significant effect on stock market performance for the period of 2018 to 2021 due to the other major factor affecting stock performance, such as macroeconomic. Practical implication that is suggested based on this study is for company to always improve their risk disclosure practice to disclose better information to public for long-term benefit.
