Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen untuk melihat pengaruh perlakuan persiapan (preparation) pada proses pelapisan. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan memperlihatkan pengaruh Batu Hijau pemoles terhadap kualitas dari lapisan nikel. Proses pelapisan ini dikenakan pada sampel baja 2311 yangdigunakan sebagai bahan dari diyce (cetakan). Proses pelapisan dilaksanakan pada 3 sampel dengan perlakuan persiapan yang berbeda sebagai variabel.Sampel 1 dipersiapkan dengan pengamplasan dari 80 – 1000 grid, sedang sampel2 dipersiapkan dengan pengamplasan 80 – 2000 grid. Seementara itu, sampel 3 menggunakan pengamplasan dari 80 -2000 disertai dengan proses pemolesan tambahan dengan batu hijau. Perlakukan dilakukan selama 60 menit dengan menggunakan B3BO3, NiCl2 dan NiSO4 sebagai larutan elektrolitnya. Pengukuran ketebalan lapisan pada spesimen dilakukan dengan SEM dan EDX.. Pengukuran ketahanan korosi dilakukan dengan menggunakan asam sulfat. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakukan persiapan berbeda menunjukkanperbedaanketebalan lapisan yang sangat signifikan. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan batu membuat pertumbuhan ketebalan yang melampaui spesimen lainnya. Sementara kpengukuran ketahanan korosi menunjukkan bahwa sampel 3 mempunyai ketahanan korosi dari pada yang lainnya, yang diakibatkan dari ketebalan lapisan. Namun diduga terjadi lapisan antara nikel dan aluminium yangmerupakan penyusun dominan dari batu hijau pada lapisan yang ditunjukkan dariperbedaan bentuk grafik korosi yang terjadi./ This research is an experimental study to see the effect of the preparation treatment on the coating process. This study also aims to show the effect of Batu Hijau polish on the quality of the nickel coating. This coating process is applied to the 2311 steel sample which is used as a material for the diyce (mould). The coating process was carried out on 3 samples with different preparation treatments as variables. Sample1 was prepared by sanding from 80 – 1000 grids, while sample 2 was prepared by sanding 80 – 2000 grids. Meanwhile, sample 3 used sanding from 80 -2000 accompanied by an additional polishing process with green stone. The treatment was carried out for 60 minutes using B3BO3, NiCl2 and NiSO4 as the electrolyte solution. Measurement of the thickness of the coating on the specimen was carried out using SEM and EDX. Corrosion resistance was measured using sulfuric acid. The results showed that the different preparation treatments showed a very significant difference in layer thickness. The results also showed that the use of stone made the thickness growth surpass that of the other specimens. Meanwhile, the measurement of corrosion resistance shows that sample 3 has more corrosion resistance than the others, which is caused by the thickness of the coating. However, it is suspected that there is a layer between nickel and aluminum which is the dominant constituent of green stone in the layer as indicated by the different shapes of the corrosion graphs that occur.
