Abstract

Tanah lempung ekspansif merupakan tanah dengan kembang susut yang tinggi, sehingga memiliki daya dukung yang rendah. Sehingga diperlukan suatu usaha untuk mengurangi sifat pengembangannya. Salah satu usaha yang dapat dikakukan adalah metode stabilisasi tanah, dimana tanah dicampur dengan bahan yang dapat menurunkan pengembangan dan meningkatkan daya dukung tanah.Salah satu bahan yang dapat digunakan adalah kaolin. Kaolin merupakan bahan stabilisasi alami. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kaolin berbentuk bubuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat penurunan pengembangan tanah ekspansif dan nilai kuat tekan bebas nya setelah terjadi pengembangan akibat variasi perendaman. Pada pengujian tanah dicampurkan dengan 9% kaolin dan direndam dengan variasi waktu 0 hari, 3 hari, 7 hari, 10 hari dan 14 hari. Pengembangan menurun hingga 67,78% dan nilai kuat tekan bebas menurun 77,28 % dibandingkan dengan kondisi optimumnya, setelah dilakukan perendaman selama 14 hari. So an effort is needed to reduce the nature of its swelling. One effort that can be done is the method of soil stabilization, where the soil is mixed with materials that can reduce swelling and increase the carrying capacity of the soil. One of the materials that can be used is kaolin. Kaolin is a natural stabilizer. In this study using kaolin powder. The aim of this research is to see the decrease in expansive soil swelling and the value of its unconfined compression test after swelling due to variations in immersion. In this test the soil was mixed with 9% kaolin and soaked with a variation of time 0 days, 3 days, 7 days, 10 days and 14 days. The swelling decreased to 67.78% and the value of unconfined compression test decreased by 77.28% compared to its optimum condition, after soaking for 14 days.
