Abstract

Servasius S. Jemorang, Analisis Pengembangan Sekolah Kejuruan Berbasis Potensi Daerah dan Kebutuhan Tenaga Kerja di Kabupaten Manggarai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan sekolah kejuruan di Kabupaten Manggarai dari aspek kesesuaian dengan potensi daerah dan kebutuhan tenaga kerja, serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi perkembangan SMK. Metode penelitiannya menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menemukan fokus pengembangan SMK di Kabupaten Manggarai lebih kepada pengembangan kompetensi keahlian di bidang pariwisata, bidang keahlian teknologi dan rekayasa, dan bidang keahlian bisnis dan manajemen. Potensi daerahnya ada pada bidang pertanian, kehutanan dan perikanan, bidang konstruksi atau bangunan, dan bidang informasi dan komunikasi. Sementara kebutuhan tenaga kerja paling tinggi ada pada sektor pertanian, kehutanan dan perikanan, sektor industri pengolahan atau manufaktur, dan sektor perdagangan besar, eceran, rumah makan, dan hotel. Kesimpulannya : pengembangan SMK di Kabupaten Manggarai tidak sesuai dengan potensi daerah dan kebutuhan tenaga kerja, yang disebabkan oleh komitmen pemerintah, baik Pemerintah Provinsi NTT maupun Pemerintah Kabupaten Manggarai, ketersediaan lahan pembangunan SMK yang kurang memadai, kecenderungan siswa yang lebih banyak berminat pada jurusan SMK tertentu dan lebih memilih SMA daripada SMK, dan lulusan SMK lebih banyak memilih untuk studi lanjut ke perguruan tinggi daripada langsung bekerja. Jemorang, Analysis of the Development of Vocational Schools Based on Regional Potential and Labor Needs in Manggarai Regency. This study aims to determine the development of vocational schools in Manggarai Regency in terms of suitability with regional potential and labor needs and to determine the factors that influence the development of vocational schools. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The results of the study found that the focus of vocational development in Manggarai Regency was more on developing competency skills in the tourism sectors, technology and engineering, and business and management expertise sectors. The potential of the Manggarai Regency lies in the agriculture sectors, forestry and fisheries, the construction or building sector, and the information and communication sector. Meanwhile, the highest demand for labor is in the agricultural sector; forestry and fisheries; the manufacturing or processing industry sector; and the wholesale, retail, restaurant and hotel sectors. In conclusion: the development of vocational development in Manggarai Regency is not in accordance with the regional potential and workforce needs, which is caused by several things such as: 1. government commitment, both the NTT Provincial Government and the Manggarai Regency Government; 2. Inadequate availability of land for the construction of vocational high schools; 3. the tendency of students who are only interested in certain majors in vocational high schools and tend to choose high school over vocational high school; and 4. vocational high school graduates prefer to continue their education to tertiary institutions rather than choosing to work directly.
