Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan lagu-lagu Bahasa Inggris kepada penguasaan kosakata siswa di SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta pada bulan April 2021. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta dengan 72 siswa yang dipilih menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel acak purposif. Kelas VIII-A ditetapkan sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII-B sebagai kelas kontrol. Sehubungan dengan adanya pandemik COVID-19, penelitian ini dilaksanakan secara daring melalui aplikasi Google Meet. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen semu, yaitu non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. Untuk mengumpulkan data, instrumen tes dalam bentuk pilihan ganda terdiri dari 45 pertanyaan, yang didistribusikan melalui Google Form. Di kelas eksperimen hasil pre-tes adalah 69.94 dan post-tes 76.33, dan hasil pre-tes pada kelas kontrol adalah 63.50 dan post-tes 67.72. Untuk menguji hipotesis, penelitian ini didasarkan pada independent sample t-Test yang digunakan untuk melihat pembanding (t-Test). Hasil t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai t-hitung adalah 4.293 lebih besar dari nilai t-tabel yaitu 2.000. Ini berarti bahwa hipotesis alternatif diterima dan hipotesis nol ditolak. Hal ini juga menegaskan bahwa ada efek signifikan dari penggunaan lagu-lagu bahasa Inggris pada penguasaan kosakata siswa di SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta. Kata kunci: pengaruh, lagu-lagu bahasa Inggris, penguasaan kosakata, keuntungan dan kerugian lagu-lagu bahasa Inggris. / This study was aimed to examine the effects of using English songs on students’ vocabulary mastery of SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta. This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta on April 2021. The population of this study was eight-grade students of SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta with 72 students selected as a sample of this study using purposive random sampling technique. Grade VIII-A was set as an experimental class and Grade VIII-B as a control class. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, this study was conducted through Google Meet application. This study used a quasi-experimental method, namely non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. To collect the data, the instruments of this study are tests in the form of multiple-choice consist of 45 questions, which were distributed online via Google Form. In the experimental class result of the pre-test was 69.94 and the post-test was 76.33, and in experimental class the result of the pre-test was 63.50 and the post-test 67.72. To test the hypothesis, this study was based on the independent sample t-Test to see the compare mean (t-test). The findings of this study revealed that the tcount was 4.293 and ttable was 2.000. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. It confirmed that there was a significant effect of English songs use on students’ vocabulary mastery of SMP Negeri 102 Jakarta.
