Abstract

Adapun penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui pola asuh orang tua tunggal dalam perkembangan karakter anak. (2) Mendeskripsikan tentang pengaruh pola asuh orang tua tunggal dengan perkembangan karakter anak. (3) Menemukan pola asuh yang tepat sesuai dengan usia dan perkembangan karakter anak. Sesuai tujuan penelitian maka diperoleh hasil penelitian pola asuh autoritatif, pola asuh permisif, dan pola asuh otoriter. Adapun pengaruh pola asuh yang diterapkan ibu tunggal dengan perkembangan karakter anak menghasilkan karakter yang berbeda sesuai dengan pola asuh yang diterapkan, yaitu pola asuh autoritatif dengan karakter anak patuh pada orang tua, pola asuh permisif dengan karakter anak manja dan pola asuh otoriter dengan karakter anak takut pada orang tua. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Obyek atau responden penelitian adalah ibu tunggal di Gereja Persekutuan Sidang Kristus Bethel Bekuan, Ketungau Hulu. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan diperoleh bahwa: (1) Faktor penyebab menjadi orang tua tunggal yaitu perceraian dan meninggal dunia. (2) Tiga bentuk pola asuh yang diterapkan yaitu pola asuh autoritatif, pola asuh permisif, dan pola asuh otoriter. Sesuai dengan karakter yang dihasilkan pola asuh autoritatif merupakan pola asuh yang cocok untuk diterapkan karena menghasilkan karakter anak yang bertanggung jawab. Meskipun demikian setiap pola asuh ibu tunggal pasti berbeda karena mengikuti perkembangan karakter anak, sehingga menghasilkan karakter yang baik. (3) Perkembangan karakter anak yang berkembang sesuai dengan pola asuh ibu tunggal. (4) Pandangan masyarakat tentang status single parent di Gereja Persekutuan Sidang Kristus Bethel Bekuan Ketungau Hulu yaitu positif dan simpati terhadap ibu tunggal. Masyarakat menganggap bahwa setiap ibu tunggal dengan faktor penyebab perceraian dan meninggal seharusnya diberikan dorongan, penguatan dan penghiburan. Masyarakat mengerti bahwa mengasuh anak sendirian bukan hal yang mudah dan banyak tantangan yang harus dihadapi oleh ibu tunggal./This study aims to: (1) Find out the single parent parenting pattern in the development of children's character. (2) Describe how the influence of single parent parenting with children's character development. (3) Finding the right parenting pattern according to the child's age and development. According to the research objectives, the results of the research are authoritative parenting, permissive parenting, and authoritarian parenting. The influence of parenting applied by single mothers to the development of the child's character produces different characters according to the parenting applied, namely authoritative parenting with the character of children being obedient to their parents, permissive parenting with the character of spoiled children and authoritarian parenting with fearful children. on parents. This research is using a qualitative research approach and the type of descriptive research. The object or respondent of the research is a single mother at Bethel Bekuan Congregational Church of Christ, Ketungau Hulu. Based on the data analysis, it was found that: (1) The factors causing being a single parent were divorce and death. (2) Three forms of parenting are applied, namely authoritative parenting, permissive parenting, and authoritarian parenting. In accordance with the character produced, authoritative parenting is a parenting pattern that is suitable to be applied because it produces a responsible child character. However, every single mother parenting pattern is different because it follows the development of the child's character, resulting in a good character. (3) The development of the child's character that develops in accordance with the single mother parenting pattern. (4) The public's view of the status of single parents in the Bethel Congregational Church of Christ Bekuan Ketungau Hulu is positive and sympathetic to single mothers. Society considers that every single mother with factors that cause divorce and death should be given encouragement, reinforcement and comfort. People understand that raising children alone is not easy and there are many challenges that single mothers have to face.
