Abstract

Internationalization and digitalization are launched in 2020 as Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) is celebrating its 67th anniversary. In the framework of quality improvement in three services of higher education, the two programs are prioritized to achieve APT Unggul or Best Accreditation. As a consequence of globalization, internationalization becomes flagship program of higher education institutions worldwide and embraced by academe in the effort of improving academic quality and introducing students to the international community. This paper discusses about what history writes about internationalization overseas and in Indonesia, the importance of internationalization of higher education and how it is amplified by the advancement of technology. The role of digitalization which is also significant in internationalization is also discussed. This paper proposes that UKI prepare itself for internationalization by focusing on developing market-oriented curriculum, extending network for academic purposes, enhancing digital literacy and English language proficiency, encouraging academic exchange, and strengthening digitalization.
