Abstract
There is no difference of the second pronoun in English and Indonesian language dealing with its reference, that is the person to whom the speaker talk to. But, dealing with the choice of the lexicon used of the second person pronoun in Indonesian compare with the second person pronoun in English, there are many differences. English only have one form to refer to singular or the plural reference to whom the speaker toalk to while in Indonesia, there are many choices that equivalent with the second person pronoun ‘you’. A translator has to make a right equivalent word of the 'you' into Indonesian by understanding the culture of both language, the politeness systems, the kinship terms and the communication situation in attemping to find a good translation.
