Abstract

The US and Mexico border is one of the borders of which activities are quite busy. Many smuggling practices occur in the border of the US and Mexico. Smuggling of drugs, people, and other things is one of the main concerns of Donald Trump. After the election, the president built a 3,200-kilometers-long wall along the US and Mexico border. Trump considers the illegal entry of drugs from Mexico very disturbing to the US security stability. The purpose of this study is to know the influence of drug smuggling networks on the effectiveness of US-Mexico border building policy under President Donald Trump. The research is qualitative one with descriptive analysis method. As for data collection technique, the author uses literature study from a number of books, journals, documents, and scientific articles regarding the effectivenees issue of Trump’s policy to build a border wall between the two countries. The result of this study indicates that Trump’s policy is ineffective because cartel owners already have the alternative way to smuggle drugs to the US.
