Abstract
This research explains about the dynamics of the development of export volume of textile and textile products (TPT) Indonesia to Japan in 2013-2017. For Indonesia, Japan is the largest trading partner country in terms of export-import. Japan ranks first as a non-oil and gas export destination and is the second largest textile and textile export destination country after the United States. Textile and textile industry is one of the leading industries in priority to be developed because it has a strategic role in the national economy that is as a contributor of foreign exchange, absorbing labor in large quantities, and as an industry that is relied upon to meet the needs of the national clothing. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the dynamics of the development of textile exports and Indonesian textile products to Japan and what strategies need to be applied to increase textile exports. The data presented in this study comes from interviews with the Indonesian Textile Association, 16 books, 8 journals, and websites and data from relevant agencies. This research uses qualitative research with analytical descriptive method by looking at the development of textile export to Japan and strategy to increase textile export. The results of this study conclude that the development of Indonesian textile exports to Japan tends to stagnate with fluctuating export value which in addition to increased also decreased. The government's strategy to increase textile exports according to the Indonesian Textile Association is to diversify markets and export products, provide incentives for the textile industry and the protection of domestic export markets. The strategy to be applied by the Indonesian Textile Association is to provide training and educate textile producers, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs). And strategies that need to be applied by textile producers that is from product orientation to market orientation that is by focusing more on demand and taste of Japanese market.
