Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan pada konduktor tembaga kabel NYM dengan kadar 99,9% Cu dan 0,04% O. Pengujian yang dilakukan disini yaitu: pengujian tarik, pengujian resistansi pada konduktor serta pengujian mikrostruktur. Pemanasan pada konduktor tembaga dilakukan selama 3 jam pada suhu 600°, 650°, 700°, 750° dan 800°C sebagai variasi suhu kebakaran pada gedung, dan selanjutnya pendinginan dengan lima variasi pendinginan yaitu air hujan, air sabun, pasir dan campuran pendinginan yang ada untuk mengetahui sifat material tersebut. Dilanjutkan dengan uji tarik pada konduktor yang berguna untuk mengetahui perubahan sifat mekanis dari tembaga, serta pengujian resistansi berguna untuk mengetahui perubahan nilai tahanan pada tembaga kabel sebelum dan sesudah pembakaran beserta pendinginan guna melihat kemampuan tembaga untuk menahan listrik dari sumber beserta perubahan bentuk dari struktur mikro sebelum dan sesudah pemanasan. Berdasarkan pengujian yang dilakukan maka konduktor tembaga Kabel NYM secara sifat mekanis, tembaga yang terbakar masih dapat digunakan kembali dikarenakan masih dibawah nilai yield terpakai, akan tetapi secara elektrikal tembaga tersebut tidak bisa digunakan, jika digunakan akan mempengaruhi pemakaian daya listrik pada perumahan dan perkantoran. Kata kunci : Karakteristik Tembaga, Konduktor kabel, Kabel, / This research was conducted on copper conductors of NYM cables with a composition of 99.9% Cu and 0.04% O. The tests carried out in this study included tensile testing, resistance testing on the conductor, and microstructural testing. Heating of the copper conductor was performed for 3 hours at temperatures of 600°C, 650°C, 700°C, 750°C, and 800°C as variations of fire temperatures in buildings. This was followed by cooling using five different cooling media, namely rainwater, soapy water, sand, and mixed cooling media, in order to determine the material properties. Tensile testing of the conductor was then carried out to determine changes in the mechanical properties of copper, while resistance testing was used to determine changes in the resistance value of the copper cable before and after burning and cooling. Microstructural observations were also conducted to evaluate the ability of copper to conduct electricity from the source, as well as changes in the microstructure before and after heating. Based on the tests conducted, it was found that in terms of mechanical properties, the burned copper conductor of the NYM cable can still be reused because it remains below the applicable yield value. However, from an electrical perspective, the copper cannot be reused, as its use would affect electrical power consumption in residential and office buildings.
