Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020 and has significantly changed various aspects of human life. One sector that has been dramatically impacted is the construction industry. Construction contractors worldwide are facing extraordinary challenges in adapting to this pandemic. They are pressured to maintain their projects' viability while adhering to strict health protocols. One of the main problems is the low adoption of technology in construction projects. The construction industry often lags in adopting new technology, even though technology can improve project quality and operational efficiency and reduce costs. This study focuses on how construction contractors in various regions face and adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study discusses the impact of the pandemic, concrete steps contractors took to overcome obstacles, and the importance of technology adoption in the construction industry. Strict health protocols cover wearing masks, maintaining social distance, measuring body temperature, and dividing work shifts, which are essential to this adaptation. Adopting technology, such as remote monitoring and project management software, is crucial in keeping projects running smoothly and protecting worker health. With a deep understanding of these changes, it is hoped that the construction sector can continue to develop and perform well in Indonesia. Keywords: COVID-19, Construction, Contractors, Technology Adoption, Health Protocols / Pandemi COVID-19 dimulai pada awal tahun 2020 dan telah mengubah berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia secara signifikan. Salah satu sektor yang terkena dampak besar adalah industri konstruksi. Kontraktor konstruksi di seluruh dunia menghadapi tantangan luar biasa dalam beradaptasi terhadap pandemi ini. Mereka ditekan untuk menjaga kelangsungan proyek mereka dengan tetap mematuhi protokol kesehatan yang ketat. Salah satu permasalahan utama adalah rendahnya adopsi teknologi dalam proyek konstruksi. Industri konstruksi sering kali tertinggal dalam mengadopsi teknologi baru, padahal teknologi dapat meningkatkan kualitas proyek dan efisiensi operasional serta mengurangi biaya. Kajian ini berfokus pada bagaimana kontraktor konstruksi di berbagai daerah menghadapi dan beradaptasi dengan pandemi COVID-19. Kajian ini membahas dampak pandemi, langkah nyata yang diambil kontraktor dalam mengatasi kendala, dan pentingnya adopsi teknologi dalam industri konstruksi. Protokol kesehatan yang ketat, seperti memakai masker, menjaga jarak sosial, mengukur suhu tubuh, dan membagi shift kerja, sangat penting dalam adaptasi ini. Penerapan teknologi, seperti pemantauan jarak jauh dan perangkat lunak manajemen proyek, sangat penting dalam menjaga proyek berjalan lancar dan melindungi kesehatan pekerja. Dengan pemahaman yang mendalam terhadap perubahan tersebut, diharapkan sektor konstruksi dapat terus berkembang dan berkinerja baik di Indonesia.
