Abstract

At the end of December 2019, there is a new disease caused by a new type of coronavirus, namely Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARSCoV-2), it was named Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). High fluorescent lymphocyte count (HFLC) is a method of hematology examination using an automated hematoanlyzer. The calculation of the HFLC is based on the high fluorescence intensity used as a marker for atypical lymphocytes. An increase in HFLC levels is an indication of an immune response to an infectious disease. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation of increased HFLC in patients confirmed positive for COVID-19. This type of research is a correlation study with a cross sectional approach. The data taken are the first results of PCR and laboratory examinations for COVID-19. The population of this study were patients under monitoring (PDP) COVID-19 who were treated at one of the hospitals in East Bekasi, West Java. The research sample consisted of 69 people (29 people who were negative for COVID-19 and 40 people were positive for COVID-19). The results showed that at the beginning of the patient's PCR examination for COVID-19, there was no significant increase in HFLC (r = 0.154) and there was no significant relationship between the PCR result of COVID-19 and the patient's HFLC level (P = 0.207). Keywords: COVID-19, HFLC, Reactive Lymphocytes, Atypical Lymphocytes
