Abstract

Penyakit infeksi disebabkan oleh berbagai penyebab, salah satunya adalah Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri Gram positif yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi bernanah pada rongga hidung, penyakit kulit, dan sebagainya. Teh yang mengandung berbagai senyawa antara lain katekin polifenol, saponin, alkaloid, tannin yang bersifat antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak methanol 100% teh hijau dan teh hitam (Camellia sinensis) dalam menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorik dengan metode Kirby baurer disk diffusion Konsentrasi ekstrak teh yang digunakan adalah 100 mg/ml, 50 mg/ml, 25 mg/ml, 12,5 mg/ml, 6,25 mg/ml, 3,125 mg/ml, dan 1,5625 mg/ml aquadest. Sebagai kontrol positif digunakan gentamicin, dan aquadest sebagai kontrol negatif. Rataan diameter zona hambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus adalah 26,67 mm dan 0 mm untuk masing masing kontrol positif dan kontrol negatif. Rataan diameter zona hambat bakteri terhadap ekstrak teh hijau secara berurutan adalah 16 mm, 10,67 mm, 8,67 mm, 6,67 mm, 5,67 mm, 3,67 mm, dan 2 mm. Rataan diameter zona hambat bakteri terhadap ekstrak teh hitam secara berurutan adalah 20 mm, 16,67 mm, 15 mm, 12,67 mm, 11,33 mm, 4,33, dan 2 mm. Rataan diameter zona hambat bakteri lebih tinggi pada ekstrak methanol teh hitam dibandingkan teh hijau Kata kunci: Staphylococcus aureus, Camellia sinensis, teh hijau, teh hitam, konsentrasi, aktivitas antibakteri. / Infectious diseases are caused by various causes, one of which is Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive bacteria that can cause festering infections in the nasal cavity, skin diseases, and so on. Tea which containing a various compound such as catechin polyphenol, saponin, alkaloid, and tannin as antibacterial. The objective of the study was to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of 100% methanol extract from green and black tea (Camellia sinensis) in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. This research was a laboratory experimental study with the Kirby Baurer disk diffusion method. The concentration of the extracts used were 100 , 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25, 3.125, and 1.5625 mg/ml aquadest Gentamicin was used as a positive control and aquadest as a negative control. The means inhibition zone diameter of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were 26,67 mm and 0 mm for gentamicin and aquadest respectively. The means inhibition zone diameter of extract green tea were 16 mm, 10.67 mm, 8.67 mm, 6.67 mm, 5.67 mm, 3.67 mm, and 2 mm. The means inhibition zone diameter of extract black tea were 20 mm, 16,67 mm, 15 mm, 12,67 mm, 11,33 mm, 4,33, and 2 mm. The mean of inhibition zone diameter was higer in methanol extract of black tea than green tea.
