Abstract

Latar Belakang: Tingkat pendidikan mempengaruhi jenis pekerjaan. Penduduk berpendidikan rendah memiliki pekerjaan diluar ruangan dimana terpapar sinar ultraviolet dari matahari yang dapat menyebabkan katarak. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan pendidikan terhadap kejadian katarak pada pasien Poli Mata Rumah Sakit Umum Universitas Kristen Indonesia tahun 2018. Metode: Data dari 142 pasien yang terdiri dari 71 kasus dan 71 kontrol diambil dari data rekam medik dengan menggunakan desain case control retropektif dengan teknik total sampling. Analisis data secara univariat dan bivariat untuk mengetahui komparabilitas antara kelompok kasus dan kontrol dan hubungan pendidikan dengan katarak. Hasil: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pendidikan dengan kejadian katarak dengan p = 0,005 (95% IK=1,561-18,801) dengan OR 5,4. Kesimpulan: Pendidikan dan katarak signifikan secara statistik, dimana tingkat pendidikan dasar mempunyai risiko 5,4 kali dari tingkat pendidikan tinggi. Kata kunci : Katarak, Pendidikan, Pekerjaan. / Background: The level of education influence the type of job. Population with low education who works outdoor are exposed to ultraviolet radiation from sun that can causes cataract. Aim: This aim of this study is to know the relationship of level of education to the incidence of cataract to the patients in the eyes polyclinic christian university indonesia hospital. Method: Data from 142 patients consisting of 71 cases and 71 control were collected from medical record using retrospective case control study with total sampling technic. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate to compare cases and control and to prove relationship of education and cataract. Result: There is a significant relation between education and the incidence of cataracts with OR 5,4 (95% CI=1,561-18,801) with p value = 0,005. Conclusion: Primary education has a satistically significant with cataract, where the level of primary education has a risk of 5,4 times than high level of education.
