Abstract

Kata kunci: Kontaminasi, lalap, A. lumbricoides, T. trichiura, cacing tambang, pasar tradisional Abstract Soil transmitted helminthes infection is still commonly found in Indonesia. The infection occurs through swallowed infective egg or when filariform stage larva penetrates skin. Consuming raw vegetables or commonly known as lalap can cause soil transmitted helminthes infection. This research is aimed to identify soil transmitted helminthes contamination in raw vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, long beans, cucumber and basil leaf which sold at traditional market in DKI Jakarta region. This descriptive study is done through laboratoric approach, took place at Medical Faculty of Universitas Kristen Indonesia Parasitology Lab. The samples are obtained through cluster sampling method from three markets per region. The identification is done with sedimentation technic and continued with microscopic examination. This study resulted 35,7% contamination out of 375 samples with the biggest result in hookworm (14,93%), followed by Ascaris lumbricoides (13,6%), Trichuris trichiura (6,4%), and Fasciola egg (1,3%) contamination. Vegetable with the most contamination is found in lettuce, followed by cabbage, basil leaf, long beans and cucumber. Keyword: Contamination, raw vegetables, A. lumbricoides, T. trichiura, hookworm, traditional market
