Abstract
Penelitian ini berjudul “Hubungan antara Penguasaan Kosakata dan Pemahaman Membaca Mahasiswa di Program Study Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Kristen Indonesia.” Penelitian ini adalah hubungan dengan dua variabel, variabel X yakni penguasaan kosakata dan variabel Y yakni pemahaman membaca. Sampel penelitian ini adalah lima puluh dua mahasiswa terdiri dari angkatan 2015, 2016 dan 2017 pada Program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Kristen Indonesia. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes penguasaan kosakata dan tes pemahaman membaca dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Melalui tes tersebut, ditemukan bahwa: Hasil nilai rata rata variabel X penguasaan kosa kata adalah 66.25. Ini berarti bahwa rata-rata skor tes kosakata adalah baik. Rata-rata skor prestasi belajar siswa dalam pemahaman membaca adalah 40.19, yang berarti bahwa nilai rata-rata tes membaca pemahaman adalah rendah. Hasil penerapan distribusi rxy yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa koefisien korelasi Spearman’s rho adalah 0.339. Ini berarti ada korelasi yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata dan pemahaman membaca. / This study is entitled "The Correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension of Students in the Department of English Language Education at Universitas Kristen Indonesia." The sample of this study was fifty-two students of Batch 2015, students of Batch 2016, and students of Batch 2017 at the English Education department in Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The instruments used were vocabulary mastery test and reading comprehension test in the form of multiple choice. Through these tests, it was found that: The mean value of the variable X vocabulary mastery is 66.25. It means that the mean vocabulary test score is good. The mean student achievement score in reading comprehension is 40.19, which means that the average reading comprehension test score is low. The results of applying the rxy obtained showed that the correlation coefficient Spearman's non parametric test is 0.339. This means there is a positive correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension.
