Abstract

Isu pemberitaan "Sekolah Internasional Mendukung LGBT" yang disiarkan oleh tvOne telah memicu respon beragam dari masyarakat Tangerang. Pemahaman atas respon khalayak menjadi kunci dalam mengidentifikasi cara yang tepat untuk menangani potensi konflik sosial sebagai dampak dari pemberitaan tersebut. Respon masyarakat Tangerang yang meliputi penolakan, stigma negatif, dan kekhawatiran terhadap isu LGBT berpotensi menimbulkan konflik sosial jika tidak ditangani dengan strategi yang tepat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi yang tepat dalam mencegah terjadinya konflik sosial di lingkungan masyarakat Tangerang sebagai dampak dari pemberitaan terkait isu "Sekolah Internasional Mendukung LGBT" yang disiarkan oleh tvOne. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam terhadap masyarakat Tangerang dan perwakilan pemerintah daerah. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan faktor-faktor utama pemicu potensi konflik, seperti nilai-nilai agama dan budaya yang kuat serta minimnya toleransi masyarakat terhadap isu LGBT. Strategi pencegahan konflik yang ditemukan meliputi: (1) pendekatan dialogis dan inklusif, (2) pelibatan tokoh masyarakat, (3) penghargaan terhadap nilai-nilai lokal, (4) kebutuhan akan kerangka hukum (5) pembentukan badan khusus untuk menangani isu LGBT. Analisis lebih lanjut menggunakan teori konflik sosial Lewis A. Coser memberikan pemahaman mendalam bahwa pendekatan dialogis dan inklusif serta pelibatan tokoh masyarakat menjadi strategi utama karena keduanya berfungsi sebagai katup pengaman (safety valve) dan pemelihara identitas kolektif (maintenance of the collective identity) dalam mencegah konflik sosial. Kata Kunci: Isu LGBT, Respon Masyarakat, Konflik Sosial, dan Strategi Pencegahan. / The news issue of "International Schools Supporting LGBT" broadcast by tvOne has triggered mixed responses from the people of Tangerang. Understanding the audience's response is key in identifying the right way to handle potential social conflict as a result of the news. The Tangerang community's response, which includes rejection, negative stigma, and concern about LGBT issues, has the potential to cause social conflict if not handled with the right strategy. Therefore, this research aims to formulate appropriate strategies to prevent social conflict in the Tangerang community as a result of news related to the issue of "International Schools Supporting LGBT" broadcast by tvOne. This research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods with the Tangerang community and regional government representatives. Research findings reveal the main factors triggering potential conflict, such as strong religious and cultural values and the lack of societal tolerance for LGBT issues. The conflict prevention strategies found include: (1) a dialogical and inclusive approach, (2) involvement of community leaders, (3) respect for local values, (4) the need for a legal framework (5) the formation of a special body to handle LGBT issues. Further analysis using Lewis A. Coser's social conflict theory provides an in-depth understanding that a dialogic and inclusive approach and the involvement of community leaders are the main strategies because they function as safety valves and collective identity maintainers in preventing social conflict.
