Abstract

Skripsi ini berusaha menjelaskan konstruksi identitas Uni Eropa dan implikasi Brexit terhadap kondisi ekonomi dan politik Uni Eropa dan Inggris. Ia dianalasis dengan menggunakan pendekatan Identitas dari Alexander Wendt untuk mengungkap pembentukan identitas Uni Eropa dan retakan identitas akibat Brexit. Dalam analisis tersebut, skripsi ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk mendiskripsikan implikasi keluarnya Inggris dari Uni Eropa. Temuan dalam skripsi ini adalah terjadinya situsai buruk di Inggris dengan adanya krisis minyak, hal itu berdampak pada perlambatan dari laju inflasi hingga rendahnya pertumbuhan ekonomi di Inggris. Peristiwa itu membuat Inggris kembali berpikir dan berkeinginan untuk menjadi anggota dari Uni Eropa. Tahun 2016 masyarakat Inggris terbagi menjadi dua kubu, yakni memilih Inggris untuk tetap menjadi anggota dari Uni Eropa dan kubu lainnya memilih untuk keluar dari keanggotaan Uni Eropa. Proses voting dilakukan dalam referendum ini, yang dilakukan pada tanggal 24 Juni 2016 dengan hasil referendum dimana proses peresmian Brexit tersebut telah melalui sebuah perjalanan yang panjang setelah sebelumnya hasil referendum dimana 51,9% memilih keluar dan 48,1% memilih tetap bertahan. Hal yang paling berdampak adalah investasi asing dan hubungan bisnis antara Inggris dan Uni Eropa. Integrasi regional menekankan pentingnya kerja sama ekonomi yang erat antara negara-negara anggota untuk menciptakan pasar tunggal dan memfasilitasi perdagangan bebas serta investasi yang lebih mudah di antara anggota. Brexit telah mengganggu kerja sama ekonomi yang erat yang menjadi pijakan utama teori integrasi regional. / This thesis attempts to explain the construction of the European Union's identity and the implications of Brexit for the economic and political conditions of the European Union and the United Kingdom. It is analyzed using the Identity approach from Alexander Wendt to reveal the formation of European Union identity and the identity cracks caused by Brexit. In this analysis, this thesis uses qualitative methods to describe the implications of Britain's exit from the European Union. The findings in this thesis are that there was a bad situation in England with the oil crisis, it had an impact on the slowdown of the inflation rate to low economic growth in England. This incident made Britain think again and wish to become a member of the European Union. In 2016 the British public was divided into two camps, namely choosing Britain to remain a member of the European Union and the other camp choosing to leave European Union membership. The voting process was carried out in this referendum, which was carried out on June 24 2016 with the results of the referendum where the Brexit inauguration process has gone through a long journey after the previous referendum results where 51.9% voted out and 48.1% chose to stay. The things that impact the most are foreign investment and business relations between the UK and the European Union. Regional integration emphasizes the importance of close economic cooperation between member countries to create a single market and facilitate freer trade and easier investment among members. Brexit has disrupted the close economic cooperation that is the cornerstone of regional integration theory.
