Abstract

Pada bidang otomotif yang selalu menawarkan fitur canggih pada kendaraan. Di dalam fitur atau accessories tersebut mempunyai komponen penting sebagai penyalur listrik dari sumber arus listrik yaitu Terminal. Dalam kegunaannya, terminal sebagai penyalur sifat listrik, pasti ada batas maksimal yang menyebabkan fitur accessories tersebut tidak berfungsi seperti semula. Seperti daya hantar menjadi menurun karena berdekatan dengan pantai yang udara sekitar nya mengandung garam yang tinggi, selain itu bila komponen yang tidak waterproof pasti akan menjadi kotor lalu mengering, sehingga hambatan listrik menjadi besar, dan accessories tidak dapat bekerja secara maksimal. Kondisi terminal saat ini yang digunakan adalah berbahan kuningan yang mudah bengkok ketika di insert dengan lawan terminal dan membutuhkan peningkatan sifat listrik dan karat yang baik. Hal ini dapat di capai dengan proses electroplating dengan material timah yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan listrik, meningkatkan kekerasan serta memudahkan dalam proses solder ke PCB. Untuk menemukan sifat listrik, kekerasan dan korosi yang baik dengan electroplating, peneliti menggunakan variasi pada lama waktu pelapisan (15, 25 dan 35 menit), variasi tegangan pelapisan (3v, 5v dan 7v), dan juga menggunakan material kuningan yang berbeda C2801, C2680, dan C2600. Setelah selesai dilakukan penilitian ini, dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa Ketebalan pelapisan timah pada setiap sample berbeda-beda karena di pengaruhi oleh variasinya tegangan listrik, waktu pelapisan dan material kuningan. Tinggi rendahnya nilai Low Voltage dan Hardness dipengaruhi oleh ketebalan lapisan dan juga kandungan dari material kuningan. Berbeda dengan nilai Resistance yang tidak berpengaruhi signifikan oleh ketebalan lapisan, tegangan listrik dan waktu pelapisan. Sehingga material yang dipakai untuk terminal ialah C2801 dengan parameter 3v dan 15 menit. / In the automotive field that always offers advanced features on vehicles. Inside these features or accessories have an important component as a distributor of electricity from an electric current source, namely the Terminal. In its use, the terminal as a distributor of electrical properties, there must be a maximum limit that causes the accessories feature to not function as before. As the conductivity decreases because it is close to the beach where the air around it contains high salt, besides that, if the components are not waterproof, they will definitely become dirty and then dry out, so that the electrical resistance becomes large, and the accessories cannot work optimally. The current condition of the terminal used is made of brass which is easily bent when inserted with the terminal opponent and requires an increase in good electrical and rust properties. This can be achieved by electroplating with tin material that can improve electrical capability, increase hardness and facilitate the soldering process to the PCB. To find good electrical, hardness and corrosion properties with electroplating, researchers used variations in the length of plating time (15, 25 and 35 minutes), variations in plating voltage (3v, 5v and 7v), and also used different brass materials C2801, C2680, and C2600. After completing this research, it can be concluded that the thickness of tin plating on each sample is different because it is influenced by variations in electrical voltage, plating time and brass material. The high and low values of Low Voltage and Hardness are influenced by the thickness of the coating and also the content of brass material. In contrast to the Resistance value which is not significantly affected by coating thickness, electrical voltage and plating time. So that the material used for the terminal is C2801 with parameters 3v and 15 minutes.
