Abstract
The daily test results for students of class VII.2 at SMPN 58 Jakarta on the topic of "Comparison" showed that 30out of36students scored below the MCML (Minimum Criteria of Mastery Learning). These unsatisfactory test results are not alwayscaused by the students' intelligence level but can be attributed to learning difficulties, as students with learning difficultiesdonot always have inadequate intelligence. The purpose of this research is to identify the types or forms of learningdifficultiesand their causes among the students during their learning process. The method used in this research is a qualitative methodwitha descriptive qualitative approach. The research population consists of 30 students from class VII.2 at SMPN58Jakartawhoobtained daily test scores below the MCML for the "Comparison" topic. Six out of the 30 students were selectedas interviewsubjects using purposive proportional random sampling, along with a Mathematics teacher in the class. Based on the analysisoftests and interviews, the results of the research show various difficulties that students face, such as difficulties ininterpretinglanguage, understanding and applying concepts, using data, and technical difficulties in counting. Additionally, the resultsofthequestionnaire analysis and interviews indicate that students face difficulties due to a lack of confidence andfeelingsofembarrassment while learning.
