Abstract

Education is needed by all individuals, including Children with Special Needs (ABK). However, often with special needs children do not get education according to their needs because many teachers do not have the knowledge and competence to recognize and understand the condition of each student with special needs. One way that teachers can do this is by compiling a series of activities aimed at gathering complete information about the conditions of students with special needs. This series of activities is known as early detection or early identification. Community service activities in the form of webinars were carried out in response to partners' needs, namely schools under the management of the Aletheia Indonesia Christian Foundation to increase teachers' understanding of early detection of children with special needs and in the context of preparing inclusive schools. The webinar was attended by 108 participants consisting of YKAI administrators, school principals, and teachers from early childhood to junior high school. Webinars are delivered using the lecture method with presentation techniques and followed by a question and answer session where teachers can consult to get alternative solutions to problems faced related to students with special needs. In addition to the question and answer session, teachers receive assignments to train their skills in compiling checklist instruments that can be used in early detection of students with special needs. At the end of the activity the teacher fills out an evaluation form to find out the effectiveness of the training provided. Keywords:early detection; children with special needs; teacher
