Abstract
Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), a form of sensorineural hearing impairment that develops gradually or progressively which is the term used to describe hearing impairment brought on by noise. One of the industries where workers frequently encounter this hearing impairment is the power generation sector. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the degree of hearing impairment experienced by field workers and operators at PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk Serang is affected by noise intensity. A cross-sectional observational study was used. The study population includes all operators and field workers at PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk Serang. The sample was chosen using a purposive sampling technique that included predetermined criteria. Data were gathered using questionnaires, interviews, and audiometric testing. Microsoft Excel and SPSS 26 with the Chi- square and Spearman tests were used for data processing. Of the 30 responders, 15 (or 50%) were operators and worked in noise levels ≤ 85 dB, while 15 (or 50%) were field workers and exposed to noise levels > 85 dB. The results of the Spearman correlation test showed that there was no relationship between noise intenstity and hearing loss (p=0.176). In addition, hearing impairment was correlated with age and length of employment, but not with duration of noise exposure or length of time spent wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
